Handcrafted jewellery
After 37 years of business, renowned Jeweller Elayne Vears is at the peak of her career, winning awards for excellence in business and long term trade. Her ability to recreate and deliver unique signature pieces to her clients nationally and internationally, has made her what she is today. Not only does Elayne place a very high value on her work but she is extremely passionate about supporting local people, giving them the opportunity to create themselves. As a self made businesswoman and renowned Jeweller Elayne knows that ethically sourced goods are what people will pay a premium for, especially when you partner that with her workmanship and the highest quality Diamonds and Pearls in the world of which she has personally sourced for her clients. After growing up in Highett she knew from an early age that she wanted to be a Jeweller. Elayne’s determination paid off in the early days as woman were not welcome at the bench and this she was reminded every day that she would be better off going away and having babies. After working as an apprentice in Melbourne and then Dandenong, Elayne joined a collaborative in 1988 called “The Barn” in Merrick’s North. Here she met a lot of amazing people and felt that this was the fruition of her true style. After six and a half years and a solid demand for her unique design, Elayne decided to back herself and take the leap to rent a small shop at 65 Main Street, Mornington. This was even more of a success and then a few years later she moved into her own studio and ‘Studio41’ was born. Hence the business name coming from the address in which she took over the lease at 41 Main Street, Mornington. The connection with the historic shop front and her uncanny ability to restore magical pieces from yesteryear resinated her with this space. Elayne is realistic about the current economic climate facing the retail sector, being optimistic and constantly recreating your designs does keep people interested and make them want to come back. “If you understand the importance of online shopping, we are definitely on our way to increasing visibility and targeting the online market, although we do have a substantial database of loyal clients whom refer our excellent service. To our small business, word of mouth is the most prosperous and gratifying reward, all the technology in the world would not override our face to face service, especially when it comes to designing custom made jewellery.” “We make dreams come true, here at Studio41, Vears Fine Jewellers!”
